Maturation: maturing of the wine in big oak barrels (50% of the wine) and barriques (50% of the wine) for 12 months. Bottled after filtering


Bottling: 0,75 l bottles, box of 6 bottles, natural cork


About wine: A wine of dark ruby red colour with toned down purple hues. The density of wine drops slowly dripping down the wine glass indicates its richness. On the nose it is slightly unconventional, reminiscent of violets and pepper, spices with a hint of mysterious Orient nights, leather of a horse’s saddle, a bicycle, and rose hip jam. On the palate it develops into a mature wine with a youthful energy, pleasantly fruity and spicy, of distinct yet soft tannins. The aftertaste is long, mineral, of pleasant tannins, and moderately spicy.


With food: The Erzetič Pokalca nera is a wine that loves foods with rich flavours. Feel free to serve it with venison, any kind of grilled meat, offal dishes (tripe, pâtés, sweetbread), pastas with rich sauces and similar dishes, as well as aged cheeses. A true challenge is posed when the wine is served with bold sweets such as chocolate with spicy pepper. The ideal serving temperature is between 18 and 20°C
