About wine: A wine of dark ruby red colour that is – despite its age – still in its youthful form. The age is revealed only on the greater roundness of tannins, which, thanks to the agreeable alcohol level and pleasant acidity, also predicts a long lifespan. On the nose there are intertwined scents of ripe red fruits, pepper, blossoms of violet, leather, tobacco, vanilla, and graphite. On the palate a grand crescendo slowly opens, soon to be joined by fruit notes (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, cornelian cherries), herbs and spices also chime in from the background (pepper, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla). It is grassy and fruity in equal measure, even though the spices take centre stage in the long aftertaste.
With food:The Amfora Rdeče is recommended to be served next to roast beef in pepper sauce, grilled lamb and goat, game stews and fillets, spicy pizza, roasted duck or guinea fowl, hard aged cheeses, tomato or garlic sauce dishes, or even a chocolate brownie. The ideal serving temperature is between 18 and 20 °C.
